Opposition promises fresh trial
KUALA LUMPUR: The opposition will carry out a fresh trial for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim if it wins the general election, Parti Keadilan Nasional lawyer Zainur Zakaria said.
He said if Anwar was found not guilty, they would proceed to hold a by-election to enable him to become prime minister.
"I'm willing to hand over my constituency to him (Anwar) and we can have a by-election in Lembah Pantai.
"Anyone (from Keadilan) including Datin Seri Wan Azizah (Ismail) would vacate their seat for him," Zainur told reporters yesterday.
He said he did not believed Anwar got a fair trial.
