Mohamad to help PAS get Kedah

ALOR STAR: PAS candidate Mohamad Sabu said he was contesting for the Kuala Kedah parliamentary seat not for personal glory but to help the party form the next state government. "Give us a chance and if we fail, just reject us the next time around," he said.

The PAS central committee member said it was his popularity which would help PAS wrest the seat from Barisan Nasional.

"For anyone to contest as an outsider, they certainly need something to bank on. I think my popularity as an opposition member and the most outspoken MP in Parliament, is helping me a lot," he said during a ceramah at Anak Bukit on Monday.

But Kedah Mentri Besar Tan Sri Sanusi Junid thinks otherwise. He said PAS made its biggest mistake by fielding Mohamad, whom he said was "reject material" from Kelantan.

He said voters knew that he (Mohamad) could not contest in Kelantan and so had to run to Kedah.

"Kedahans will not accept him," Sanusi said after a meeting with state Umno candidates here yesterday.
